Star of stage and screen, Just You Travel Ambassador Claire Sweeney headed off on our Treasures of Andalucía tour. Here she tells us about her highlights.
The Treasures of Andalucía was my third trip with Just You and one of the things I love most about a Just You holiday, is leaving all responsibilities at the airport! I spend my life organising and looking after everyone so the joy of not needing to think or plan and having everything done for me, was beyond words! Just getting up and being told what time to be on the coach, then sitting back and enjoying the most wonderful and informative trips was amazing, relaxing and much needed.
Settling in
Upon arriving at the hotel, I was greeted by our Holiday Director who let me know to be in the bar for welcome drinks later to meet everyone – it always feels a bit like my first day at school, but I need not worry as everyone was in the same boat, and within half hour there was laughter, chat and bonding!
Shared experiences
I tend to usually go on beach holidays, but to do all the trips with a guide whose knowledge was off the scale was fantastic. I learned so much and all the timings were perfect, not at all exhausting. I adore Málaga and was thrilled that, after a couple of hours sightseeing with the group, we had free time to do some shopping and have tapas. On certain days there was the option to go on a trip like Gibraltar for example, or you could just relax in the stunning hotel in the village of Mijas. We had two dinners as a group in the village, which were lovely! And nice not to be restricted to just eating at the hotel.
Festival favourite
My favourite place on the trip was Ronda, the day we were there it was a festival day, the place was alive, with most of the locals in traditional dress. The buildings were beautiful and steeped in history; lunch was fabulous, and the atmosphere was electric. I would love to go back.
Choosing a Just You holiday
I met some wonderful people on this Just You holiday. Everyone had a different story and reason for being there, but we all agreed that we would definitely do it again. There is certainly no need to feel trepidation or be worrying about going away on your own. Some of the people on the holiday said they were nervous as the holiday got closer and one lady said she was having second thoughts. She said she was glad came as it was a life-changing holiday for her and has opened up a whole new world of travel. As a recently divorced lady she said the world was now her lobster! Move over Shirley Valentine lol..!
